The BLG Business Venture Clinic has partnered with Paper Interactive to provide students access and experience to the new cloud-based legal management tool.
The Faculty of Law’s BLG Business Venture Clinic, a student-run clinic that provides legal help to Alberta entrepreneurs, announced its partnership with Paper Interactive Inc., a cloud-based legal management tool. The in-kind gift, which has an annual contract value of US$57,000, will allow students to access Paper’s innovative services to provide faster and better legal work for their clients. The partnership is in place for one year. “We’re very excited about this partnership and the tangible benefits to our students,” says Bryce Tingle, professor and N. Murray Edwards Chair in Business Law, who oversees the clinic. “Current students will be able to collaborate on documents, subsequent students will be able to quickly identify the status of projects when joining the clinic, and we will begin to develop a database of precedents that will grow as the clinic does its work.” Paper, a Calgary-based startup, helps teams securely collaborate on and eSign important documents without the back-and-forth of emails. Paper allows both legal and business teams to scale contract and legal document operations with powerful automation and data analytics. Paper was the recipient of the 2016 People’s Choice Award of Startup Calgary. “Being able to get the tool in the hands of our future legal professionals just made sense," says Paper’s founder Adrian Camara. “These students will be the driving force for change in the practice of law, using these new tools and technology to give clients a better experience and value for their money.” About the BLG Business Venture Clinic The Borden Ladner Gervais Business Venture Clinic is a unique course that gives students the opportunity to develop their legal skills, while giving local startups the legal services they need to make their projects a success.
